Universities told to defer fees for Syrian Students

The British Government is urging UK universities to defer tuition fees fro Syrian students.The Guardian newspaper reports today that letters have gone to Vice Chancellors advising them to defer request of payment of fees and give affected students access to hardship funds. It seems that about 250 of the 670 Syrian students are having serious financial problems. The Government is drawing comparison to what happened recently to Libyan students by universities argue that the case for Syrian students is different as no end to the plight of the country is in sight.
